During these Covid times, short, cold days, it takes a lot to keep going, let alone feel extra motivated and inspired. I have a soundtrack of my life, and I am always on the lookout for new music/songs to move around the house to, to cook to, getting ready for work to, to workout to, to feel/think to.
The best song that comes to mind to do that is Again, by the George Caplan Conspiracy. I first heard it in Season 1 of Emily in Paris.
“I’m trying that way, again and again — there’s no time for giving up. I’m trying the other way, again and again – there’s no time for giving up.. . “
Most importantly, I like the way Emily does keep going. In this scene (Season 1, episode ___) she is given a product to market and does try each and every way. She questions it, rethinks her approach, her words. She ignores what Canadians might consider abrupt rudeness of her French colleagues and just keeps working/trying until the piece of the puzzle fits and bang – it takes off.
Fluid, in-the-background songs that keep me moving
Other songs I like these days have some fluidity in them, and while I don’t usually work with music on these songs can also dub as background music and they don’t seem to interfere with the natural processes of the brain (for me anyway). Some don’t have lyrics, yet I wouldn’t consider them in the category of instrumental or electronic and I have heard them here and there on various chill radio playlists. Whenever I hear a song I like I grab it. While this list doesn’t necessarily hit on my top 10 fav musiciains, these songs keep me moving, breathing deeply, and aren’t too disruptive to my train of thought. And for some reason they are just so winter, whatever that means, and yet uplifting.
